Il canyon del Limaro’ si raggiunge da Arco in circa 30 min di auto. Questo ambiente naturale unico e incontaminato si trova lungo il corso del fiume Sarca, che ha le sue sorgenti dai ghiacci dell’Adamello e termina gettandosi nel Lago di Garda. Il tratto del canyon che noi percorreremo è il più spettacolare e si trova tra gli abitati di Ponte Arche e Sarche, sviluppandosi per una lunghezza di circa 3 km. L’ingresso nel canyon è situato in corrispondenza del Maso Limarò ed è molto suggestivo: dobbiamo infatti scendere circa 200 metri prima di raggiungere il letto del fiume. Quando siamo giù, tutto cambia prospettiva e da subito l’emozione dell’esplorazione è fortissima! Le alte pareti di calcare laterali ci fanno sentire piccolissimi e durante tutto il percorso verso valle lo sguardo è rivolto all’impressionante lavoro di scavo che l’acqua ha creato nel corso dei millenni, portando alla luce degli strati geologici che altrimenti non potremmo vedere.

Il corso del fiume crea pozze d’acqua cristallina che in alcune condizioni possono essere profonde anche 2 metri. In alcuni punti, sarà necessario l’attraversamento a piedi o a nuoto del fiume da una sponda all’altra.

Ovviamente in tutto questo non può mancare il divertimento!! Stretti passaggi tra grossi massi, pozze d’acqua, guadi, tracce di sentieri tra i boschi, giochi di luce, spiagge nascoste e avvistamenti di animali che vivono in questo ambiente umido.

Limaro’ Canyon can be reached from Arco in roughly 30 mins by car. This natural environment is unique and untouched and is situated along the river Sarca’s course, which has its source situated up in the glaciers of Adamello and ends up right into Lake Garda. The canyon’s section that we will follow is the most spectacular and is situated between the villages of Ponte Arche and Sarche, developing along a course which is roughly 3 kms long. The entrance to the canyon is situated level with Maso Limarò and is beautiful: we have to go down for roughly 100 metres before reaching the river bed. When we are down in the river everything changes perspective and that wonderful feeling of exploration right from the start is unbelievable! The tall rock faces of limestone make us feel tiny and throughout the itinerary which heads downhill we keep looking around us at the impressive work that the water has done throughout the millenniums, showing up geological layers which otherwise we would have never been able to see.

The course of the river creates pools of crystalline water that in some conditions can even be 2 meters deep. In some places, it will be necessary to cross the river from one shore to the other by foot or by swimming.

Obviously in all this we will be having loads of FUN!! Narrow passages through large boulders, water pools, wading across the water, discovering trails through the woods, observing the game of lights, hidden beaches and spotting animals which live in this damp world.

Mit dem Auto erreichen wir den Limarò Canyon von Arco aus in rund 30 Minuten. Diese einzigartige und unberührte Naturlandschaft wurde im Laufe der Jahrtausende vom Fluss Sarca geschaffen, der seinen Ursprung im ewigen Eis des Adamello-Gletschers hat. Wir erkunden den spektakulärsten Abschnitt des Canyons, der zwischen den Orten Ponte Arche und Sarche liegt und sich über eine Länge von etwa drei Kilometer erstreckt.

Allein schon der Einstieg, er befindet sich am Maso Limarò, ist sehr beeindruckend: Um das Flussbett zu erreichen, müssen wir etwa 200 Meter hinuntergehen. Dabei verändert sich Schritt für Schritt unsere Perspektive und die Abenteuerlust steigt. Die mächtigen Kalksteinwände werden immer höher und geben uns das Gefühl, immer kleiner zu werden. Sie haben phantasievolle Formen und es ist einfach unglaublich beeindrucken zu sehen, mit welcher Kraft das Wasser diese Schlucht in tausenden von Jahren geschaffen hat. 

Und dann geht der Spaß erst richtig los: Mal laufen wir durch den Wald, mal durch das Wasser. Wir erkunden enge Flusspassagen, erklimmen Felsbrocken und springen in kleine Wasserbecken, die bis zu zwei Meter tief sein können. Manchmal müssen wir sogar den Fluss überqueren – immer zu Fuß oder schwimmend. Dabei sehen wir wie sich die Sonnenstrahlen auf dem Wasser spiegeln und beobachten Tieren in ihrer natürlichen Umgebung.  Einfach großartig!
